Possibly from pre-Germanic *Hré?-no-, from Proto-Indo-European *Hre?- (“to flow”) (compare Latin rig? (“wet, soak”), Lithuanian rõki (“drizzling rain”), Albanian rrjedh (“to flow, drip”)), although the consonant reflexes don't match.
