Mannaja Quotes:

  • Valler: Who are you?

Mannaja: Those who know me call me Blade. Because I've got a habit of letting this do my talking for me.

  • Mannaja: [Blade shoots and wounds Valler's men] As you can see, I know other languages.

  • Mannaja: At the beginning of judgment day, there won't be anyone alive before you, McGowan.

  • Edward M. McGowan: Would you mind telling me, just what your real name is?

Edward M. McGowan: A man with your amount of conscience. I doubt it will ring bells. The name I was born to, is buried in the middle of a wood grove with my dead father.

Edward M. McGowan: Are you - the son of Gerald? Gerald Merton?

Mannaja: Yeah! How do you feel?

Mannaja: [Flashback of a tree collapsing ontop of Gerald Merton, killing him instantly. Young Blade and his mother Lucy races over to Gearld] NO! PAPA!

    Lucy Merton: GERALD!

    Mannaja: Papa!

Edward M. McGowan: His wife and son are here. Go on! Get them out of there.

Mannaja: [McGowan's men drags young Blade and Lucy away from Gerald] NO! PAPA! NO! PAPA! PAPA!

Edward M. McGowan: It was an accident. It wasn't me. It was just an accident. It wasn't anybody's fault.

    Mannaja: Yes it was!

[Blade aims his gun at McGowan]

Mannaja: You stole the land. Remember that?

Edward M. McGowan: No! I bought that land, under territorial confession.

Mannaja: And destroyed a man in doing it.

Edward M. McGowan: Gerald Merton refused to amend in the movement of progress. The minerals on your father's land enriched the world.

Mannaja: Especially you! No! Your minerals have brought greed, disease and filth. You just have to look at the miners.

Edward M. McGowan: Alright! Kill me! Blow my head off! If you think that's going to avenge your father. But, I warn you, you got the wrong enemy.

Mannaja: [Blade shoots and shatters a mirror] I know I do. But you're finished, McGowan. For 20 years, my only dream was to face you down and kill you for what you did to my father. And you know, you are not worth the brass of my 7 petty cartridges. Not anymore. And the worst punishment now is for you to live on.

Edward M. McGowan: Now, you listen to me, Blade. Your forgiveness and petty I don't need. I only want you to kill - to kill your and my enemy. Valler. It's Valler you got to kill. He kidnapped Deborah. He's a bloodthirsty madman. He wants the empire and I can't prevent it. Only you can stop him now. I'm afraid of what he will do to Deborah. You have to save her.

  • Mannaja: [Blade exits the cave after he kills Dahlman and his men] BURT CRAVEN! I KNOW YOUR HERE!

Burt Craven: But, you told me you're blind. You said you couldn't look into the sun. You Bastard! You lied! You were lying all along. Talk about seeing things different. You were lying!

Mannaja: I was warning you. About how I saw through everything you were saying. It's time, Burt. DRAW!

    [Blade shoots kill Craven]

  • Angela: I know I shouldn't ask you. Will you stay?

Mannaja: Who can tell? I can bet on a couple of cards.

  • Burt Craven: [First line] There ain't no one here.

Oldtimer: Keep it down! Damn! What the hell! Don't you know hens? Are you gonna wake them something like that? Now then, you want eggs?

    Mannaja: Are you the sheriff?

Oldtimer: Are you President McKinley? What does it look like? We ain't got any Sheriff here. We ain't got nothing. It all belongs to McGowan.

Burt Craven: Say! What's that smell in the air?

Oldtimer: That odor also belongs to McGowan. It's from the silver mine. Which is McGowans, of course.

Mannaja: Where's a town with a marshal in it? I've got a reward to collect.

Oldtimer: You could try making it to Cassidy. But, with this down pour, I shall don't advise it.

Mannaja: Is there someplace here that I can bed down in?

Oldtimer: The bunkhouse. Yes. For the miners. But first, you got to get permission from McGowan. You wanna know a secret? You're never gonna get it.

Mannaja: [Burt Craven chuckles] Where is this McGowan?

Oldtimer: You take a dozen eggs. It will be awful nice with coffee in the morning. On the trail to Cassidy. Goodnight!

Mannaja: [Blade stops Oldtimer] It's awful late, you know. You don't want your hands up all night long. Where is McGowan?

Oldtimer: He lives on a hill west of town. But, the one you want to see is Valler, his watchdog. His name is Valler. He be in the drugstore. Yeah! he's there.

    Mannaja: Real jailbirds!

    [Blade and Craven leave]

  • Mannaja: It's really gonna stink when you take your boot off.

    Burt Craven: So what?

Mannaja: $5000 dollars is what I wanted, not your smell. Go on! Get out of here, Craven.

    Burt Craven: Come again?

    Mannaja: Hit the trail, Burt!

Burt Craven: You son of a bitch! You're letting me go, just like that? You're one of the most goddamn unpredictable bastards that I know.

Mannaja: Don't waste you're breath! You might be wanting to run and I need money again.

    Burt Craven: Yeah! No!

[Craven laughs and runs out into the night in the pouring rain]

  • Mannaja: [Blade rides back into Suttonville which is clouded in mist] VALLER! WHERE ARE YOU? I'VE COME TO KILL YOU! I'M HERE FOR YOU, VALLER!

    Valler: Go get him!

[Valler unchains his dogs and they run out into the mist. Two gunshots are heard. Blade kills Valler's dogs]

    Mannaja: HELL THAN NOTHING, VALLER!

Valler: COME ON OUT! SHOW YOURSELF IF YOU GOT THE LEVER!

Mannaja: I'M RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF YOU!

[Valler shoots randomly. Blade appears and he throws a hatchet and it strikes Valler in the chest killing him. Valler collapses to the ground dead]

    Mannaja: .

    Deborah McGowan: NO!

[Deborah races to Valler's body and sobs]

    Deborah McGowan: .

  • Valler: [Dahlmen's men digs up the chest filled with gold, which Blade buried and hid] You saved us the trouble of digging your grave. You see the sun? That's gonna be your damn nation, fella. I am reserved to the slowest edge your heart could sink off, YOU TRASH!

    [Valler kicks Blade]

Angela: YOU BASTARD! I'LL TEAR YOUR EYES OUT!

[Angela attacks Valler and scratches his left cheek, leaving a bloody scratch mark]

    Valler: YOU PROSTITUTE!

[Valler stabs and kills Angela with a knife]

Mannaja: GODDAMN YOU! I KILL YOU!

[Blade attacks Valler, but Valler kicks Blade again. Blade screams. Angela lies on the ground dead]

  • Deborah McGowan: [Deborah is playing on her piano. Deborah feels a cold draft and gets up and closes the window. She startled to see Blade sitting on a chair in the room] Who are you? What do you want here?

Mannaja: A lot of people have been asking me that lately. Where is your father?

Edward M. McGowan: [McGowan cocks his gun] Stay right where you are! Get your hands up, son.

Edward M. McGowan: [Blade raises his hands in the air. Blade has a flashblack of a tree collapsing] Put your hands up to your hat. Deborah, I will handle this.

Mannaja: [Blade grabs Deborah] It will never go through her. And we'll both feel silly.

    [Blade releases Deborah]

Mannaja: The pistol won't be necessary, McGowan.

Edward M. McGowan: [McGowan puts down his gun] Who are you?

Mannaja: Someday we'll come around to that. I'm here tonight about prices.

    Edward M. McGowan: Prices?

Mannaja: Yep. You pay $2000 a week and I'll be straw boss for you.

Edward M. McGowan: You have an imagination.

Mannaja: It would be worth improving your defenses. You can gather up your silver faster than you can mine it. The McGowan empire won't last too long.

Edward M. McGowan: I already employ a whole army to defend the empire.

Mannaja: It's a poor battle commander who won't do a little observation. A fatal mistake.

Edward M. McGowan: You still got time to make Suttonville before I have Valler give something else to his dogs for dinner.

Mannaja: [Valler arrives with his two dogs. Valler's dogs whimper] You were given the wrong information. Because we've reached an understanding these dogs and I. Think it over, McGowan.

Deborah McGowan: [Blade leaves] Just stand that and let a fellow walk out.
