Edward M. McGowan Quotes:

  • Edward M. McGowan: Would you mind telling me, just what your real name is?

Edward M. McGowan: A man with your amount of conscience. I doubt it will ring bells. The name I was born to, is buried in the middle of a wood grove with my dead father.

Edward M. McGowan: Are you - the son of Gerald? Gerald Merton?

Mannaja: Yeah! How do you feel?

Mannaja: [Flashback of a tree collapsing ontop of Gerald Merton, killing him instantly. Young Blade and his mother Lucy races over to Gearld] NO! PAPA!

    Lucy Merton: GERALD!

    Mannaja: Papa!

Edward M. McGowan: His wife and son are here. Go on! Get them out of there.

Mannaja: [McGowan's men drags young Blade and Lucy away from Gerald] NO! PAPA! NO! PAPA! PAPA!

Edward M. McGowan: It was an accident. It wasn't me. It was just an accident. It wasn't anybody's fault.

    Mannaja: Yes it was!

[Blade aims his gun at McGowan]

Mannaja: You stole the land. Remember that?

Edward M. McGowan: No! I bought that land, under territorial confession.

Mannaja: And destroyed a man in doing it.

Edward M. McGowan: Gerald Merton refused to amend in the movement of progress. The minerals on your father's land enriched the world.

Mannaja: Especially you! No! Your minerals have brought greed, disease and filth. You just have to look at the miners.

Edward M. McGowan: Alright! Kill me! Blow my head off! If you think that's going to avenge your father. But, I warn you, you got the wrong enemy.

Mannaja: [Blade shoots and shatters a mirror] I know I do. But you're finished, McGowan. For 20 years, my only dream was to face you down and kill you for what you did to my father. And you know, you are not worth the brass of my 7 petty cartridges. Not anymore. And the worst punishment now is for you to live on.

Edward M. McGowan: Now, you listen to me, Blade. Your forgiveness and petty I don't need. I only want you to kill - to kill your and my enemy. Valler. It's Valler you got to kill. He kidnapped Deborah. He's a bloodthirsty madman. He wants the empire and I can't prevent it. Only you can stop him now. I'm afraid of what he will do to Deborah. You have to save her.

  • Deborah McGowan: [Deborah is playing on her piano. Deborah feels a cold draft and gets up and closes the window. She startled to see Blade sitting on a chair in the room] Who are you? What do you want here?

Mannaja: A lot of people have been asking me that lately. Where is your father?

Edward M. McGowan: [McGowan cocks his gun] Stay right where you are! Get your hands up, son.

Edward M. McGowan: [Blade raises his hands in the air. Blade has a flashblack of a tree collapsing] Put your hands up to your hat. Deborah, I will handle this.

Mannaja: [Blade grabs Deborah] It will never go through her. And we'll both feel silly.

    [Blade releases Deborah]

Mannaja: The pistol won't be necessary, McGowan.

Edward M. McGowan: [McGowan puts down his gun] Who are you?

Mannaja: Someday we'll come around to that. I'm here tonight about prices.

    Edward M. McGowan: Prices?

Mannaja: Yep. You pay $2000 a week and I'll be straw boss for you.

Edward M. McGowan: You have an imagination.

Mannaja: It would be worth improving your defenses. You can gather up your silver faster than you can mine it. The McGowan empire won't last too long.

Edward M. McGowan: I already employ a whole army to defend the empire.

Mannaja: It's a poor battle commander who won't do a little observation. A fatal mistake.

Edward M. McGowan: You still got time to make Suttonville before I have Valler give something else to his dogs for dinner.

Mannaja: [Valler arrives with his two dogs. Valler's dogs whimper] You were given the wrong information. Because we've reached an understanding these dogs and I. Think it over, McGowan.

Deborah McGowan: [Blade leaves] Just stand that and let a fellow walk out.
