From Middle English sinonyme, from Latin syn?nymum, from Ancient Greek ????????? (sun?numon), neuter singular form of ????????? (sun?numos, synonymous), from ??? (sún, with) + ????? (ónoma, name). Equivalent to syn- +? -onym.
