venetic

Romanian

Etymology

Borrowed from Byzantine Greek or Greek ????????? (venetikós, Venetian). Compare also Aromanian venetic, Turkish venedik, Albanian venetik, Slavic venedik?. In Romanian, the word can occasionally carry the connotation of being foreign in a religious sense.
