Heracleum is so named because, though photosensitisation in livestock is a thing, oral intake is of low toxicity for hogs, as well as for sheep, goats or cows, by which reason they were fattened by Heracleum sphondylium and now graze off Heracleum mantegazzianum, just trample it down when young, while it is deadly for humans.
