  1. (mineralogy) A dark-green igneous rock consisting largely of chrysolite, with pyroxene and picotite.
    • 2004, Richard Fortey, The Earth, Folio Society 2011, p. 60:
      The most important variety is called lherzolite: its list of constituent minerals includes a lot of olivine but also feldspar and pyroxene, and often small quantities of two other minerals: garnet and spinel.
