(philosophy, politics, economics) A political philosophy maintaining that all persons are the absolute owners of their own lives, and should be free to do whatever they wish with their persons or property, provided they allow others that same liberty.
(philosophy) The doctrine of free will, as opposed to necessitarianism.

populism (countable and uncountable, plural populisms)

(philosophy) A political doctrine or philosophy that proposes that the rights and powers of ordinary people are exploited by a privileged elite, and supports their struggle to overcome this.
(derogatory) The practice of appealing to the interests of the common people.
