The term "exergy" was coined in 1956 by Zoran Rant (1904–1972) from Greek ex- ("out of", "away from") + ergon ("work").

exergy (countable and uncountable, plural exergies)

(physics) Concentrated or organized energy, which can be exported and do work in the process.
