(damat, “bridegroom; son-in-law; sovereign's brother-in-law”) (from Persian ? (dâmâd, “bridegroom; son-in-law; father-in-law; sovereign's brother-in-law; lover, wooer”)) with the ending reshaped under the influence of Kabardian ??? (?d?, “father”).
