Saruman: We must join with Him, Gandalf. We must join with Sauron. It would be wise, my friend.

Saruman: [to Gandalf] Your love of the Halfings' leaf has clearly slowed your mind.

Saruman: [to the Uruk-hai hunting party] Hunt them down. Do not stop until they are found. You do not know pain, you do not know fear. You will taste man-flesh!

Saruman: The hour is later than you think. Sauron's forces are already moving. The Nine have left Minas Morgul.

Gandalf: The Nine?

Saruman: They crossed the River Isen on Midsummer's Eve, disguised as riders in black.

Gandalf: They've reached the Shire?

Saruman: They will find the Ring, and kill the one who carries it.

Gandalf: But we still have time. Time enough to counter Sauron if we act quickly.

Saruman: Time? What time do you think we have?

Saruman: The power of Isengard is at your command, Sauron, Lord of the Earth.

[From trailer]

Saruman: Leave Sauron to me!

[the White Council appears to aid Gandalf]

Saruman: [to Galadriel] Are you in need of assistance, my lady?

Gandalf: Your treachary has already cost many lives. Thousands more are now at risk, but you could save them Saruman. You were deep in the enemy's council.

Saruman: So you have come here for information. I have some for you.

[he reveals his palantir]

Saruman: Something festers in the heart of Middle-Earth. Something that you have failed to see. But the Great Eye has seen it. Even now he presses his advantage. His attack will come soon. You're all going to die. But you know this don't you, Gandalf?

[sneering]

Saruman: You cannot think that this Ranger will ever sit upon the throne of Gondor. This exile, crept from the shadows, will never be crowned king. Gandalf does not hesistate to sacrifice those closest to him, those he professes to love. Tell me... what words of confort did you give the halfling before you sent him to his doom? The path that you have set him on can only lead to death.

Gimli: I've heard enough."

[to Legolas]

Gimli: "Shoot him. Stick an arrow in his gob.

[Legolas goes to do so]

Gandalf: No. Come down Saruman, and your life will be spared.

Saruman: Save your pity and your mercy; I have no use for it!

[he fires at Gandalf, who emerges unscathed from the flames]

Gandalf: Saruman, your staff is broken.

Saruman: You have fought many wars and slain many men, Theoden King, and made peace afterwards. Can we not take council as we once did, my old friend? Can we not have peace?

Theoden: We shall have peace... We shall have peace, when you answer for the burning of the Westfold, and the children that lie dead there! We shall have peace, when the lives of the soldiers whose bodies were hewn even as they died against the gates of the Hornberg, are avenged! Saruman: Gibbits and crows! DOTARD! What do *you* want, Gandalf Greyhame? Let me guess. The key of Orthanc? Or perhaps the keys of Barad-Dur itself? Along with the crowns of the seven kings and the rods of the five wizards?

Saruman: What is the house of Rohan but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek and rats roll on the floor with the dogs? The victory at Helm's Deep does not belong to you, Théoden, horsemaster! You are a lesser son of greater sires.

Theoden: Grima, you are not always as you are, now. You were once a man of Rohan. Come down.

Saruman: A man of Rohan? What is the house of Rohan, but a thatched barn where Brigands drink in the reek and the rats roll on the floor with the dogs? Victory at Helm's Deep does not belong to you Théoden, Horse Master. You are a Lesser Son of Greater Sires.

Galadriel: You carry something. It came to you from Radagast. He found it in Dol Guldur.

Gandalf: Yes.

Galadriel: Show it to me.

[Gandalf takes out a package]

Elrond: What is that?

Galadriel: A relic... of Mordor.

Elrond: A Morgul-blade!

Galadriel: Made for the Witch-king of Angmar and buried with him. When Angmar fell, the Men of the North took his body and all that he possessed and sealed it within the High Fells of Rhudaur. Deep within the rock, they buried him. In a tomb so dark, it would never come to light.

Elrond: This is not possible. A powerful spell lies upon those tombs, they can NOT be opened.

Saruman: What proof do we have this weapon came from Angmar's grave?

Gandalf: I can find none.

Saruman: Because there IS none! Let us examine what we know: A single Orc pack has dared to cross the Bruinen, a dagger from a bygone age has been found and a human sorcerer who calls himself the Necromancer has taken up residence in a ruined fortress. It's not so very much. After all, the question of this Dwarvish company, however, troubles me deeply. I'm not convinced, Gandalf. I do not feel I can condone such a quest. If they had come to me, I might have spared them from this disappointment...

Galadriel: [while Saruman talks] They are leaving.

Gandalf: Yes.

Galadriel: [smiles] You knew.

Galadriel: The dragon has long been on your mind.

Gandalf: This is true, my lady. Smaug owes allegiance to no one, but if he should side with the Enemy... A dragon could be used to terrible effect.

Saruman: What enemy? Gandalf, the Enemy is defeated. Sauron is vanquished. He can never regain his full strength.

Elrond: Gandalf, for four hundred years, we have lived in peace - a hard-won, watchful peace.

Gandalf: Are we, are we at peace? Trolls have come down from the mountains, they are raiding villages, destroying farms. Orcs have attacked us on the road!

Elrond: Hardly a prelude to war.

Saruman: Always you must meddle, looking for trouble when none exist...

Galadriel: Let him speak.

Gandalf: There is something at work beyond the evil of Smaug. Something far more powerful. We could remain blind to it but it will not be ignoring us, that I can promise you. A sickness lies over the Greenwood. The Woodsmen who live there now call it Mirkwood and, uh, they say...

Saruman: Well, don't stop now. Tell us what the Woodsmen say.

Gandalf: They speak of a Necromancer living in Dol Guldur, a sorcerer who could summon the dead.

Saruman: That's absurd. No such power exists in this world. This "Necromancer" is nothing more than a mortal man, a conjurer dabbling in black magic.

Gandalf: And so I thought too, but Radagast had seen...

Saruman: Radagast? Do not speak to me of Radagast the Brown. He is a foolish fellow.

Gandalf: Well, he's odd, I'll grant you. He lives a solitary life...

Saruman: It's not that. It's his excessive consumption of mushrooms! They've addled his brain and yellowed his teeth!

Gandalf: Does it not worry you that the last of the Dwarf-rings should simply vanish along with its bearer? Of the Seven Dwarf-rings, four were consumed by dragons, two were taken by Sauron before he fell in Mordor... the fate of the last Dwarf-ring remains unknown, the ring that was borne by Thrain.

Saruman: Without the Ruling Ring of Power, the Seven are no value to the Enemy. To control the other Rings, he needs the One. And that Ring was lost long, long ago. It was swept out to sea by the waters of the Anduin.

Saruman: If the wall is breached, Helm's Deep will fall.

Wormtongue: Even if it is breached, it will take a number beyond reckoning, thousands, to storm the keep.

Saruman: Tens of thousands.

Wormtongue: But, my lord, there is no such force.

[they go out onto the balcony, and see an army of ten thousand Uruk-hai]

Saruman: Together, my lord Sauron, we shall rule this Middle-earth. The old world will burn in the fires of industry. Forests will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machine of war with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of the orc.

Saruman: [to the army of Isengard] A new power is rising. Its victory is at hand. This night the land will be stained with the blood of Rohan. March to Helm's Deep. Leave none alive. To war!

Saruman: There will be no dawn... for men.

Saruman: Rohan, my lord, is ready to fall.

Saruman: We have only to remove those who oppose us.

Gandalf: I have come for your aid Saruman the White, in troubled times. The Nine are abroad, darkness approaches, the Black Riders!

Saruman: Is that all the news you have for me then?

Gandalf: Is that not enough? Sauron is moving at last!

Saruman: We can deal with Sauron ourselves Gandalf. You, and I. One way or another.

Gandalf: What talk is this? What are you saying Saruman?

Saruman: It is time for us to choose. A new age is upon us, a new power is rising. Nothing that Elves or Men or Wizards can do will avail against it. Its enemies are utterly doomed, but its friends...

Gandalf: You are saying that we should join with Mordor? With him?

Saruman: Does that displease you? Where is the Ring Gandalf? Why do the servants of Sauron seek for it in the Shire? Have you hidden it there? Would you rather see the Dark Lord have it, or Saruman of Many Colours?

Gandalf: Neither of you will have it.

Saruman: There is a third choice. It is to remain here, until you tell me where the One Ring may be found.

Gandalf: Saruman, if you do this, if you delay me here, Sauron will surely get it then.

Saruman: Then he will know his good servants... and his enemies.
