[Johanna screams at the sky]

Haymitch Abernathy: Thank YOU. Johanna Mason, District 7.

[looking at the District 2 Female Tribute, Enobaria]

Katniss Everdeen: What's with her teeth?

Haymitch Abernathy: She had them filed into fangs so she could rip people's throats out.

Peeta Mellark: She's committed, I'll give her that.

Katniss Everdeen: You were dead. Your heart stopped.

Peeta Mellark: It's okay. It's working now.

Finnick Odair: Katniss.

Katniss Everdeen: Hello, Finnick.

Finnick Odair: Do you want a sugar cube? I mean it's supposed to be for the horses, but... I mean who cares about them, right? They got years to eat sugar, whereas you and I... well, if we see something sweet we better grab it.

Katniss Everdeen: No thanks, but I would love to borrow that outfit someday.

Finnick Odair: You look pretty terrifying in that get up. What happened to the pretty little girl dresses?

Katniss Everdeen: I outgrew them.

Finnick Odair: You certainly did. Shame about this quell thing. Now you... you could have made out like a bandit in the Capitol. Jewels, money, anything you wanted.

Katniss Everdeen: Well, I don't like jewels and I have more money than I need, so... What did you do with all your wealth anyway?

Finnick Odair: I haven't dealt in anything as common as money in years.

Katniss Everdeen: Well, then, how do people pay for the pleasure of your company?

Finnick Odair: With secrets. What about you, Girl on Fire? Any secrets worth my time?

Katniss Everdeen: I'm an open book. Everybody always seems to know my secrets before I know them myself.

Finnick Odair: Unfortunately, I think that's true. I'm sorry you had to cancel your wedding. I know how devastating that must be for you. Have a good day.

[Peeta walks up to them]

Finnick Odair: [exiting] Peeta.

Peeta Mellark: Finnick. What'd he want?

Katniss Everdeen: To know all my secrets.

Peeta Mellark: Hm. Have to get in line.

Katniss Everdeen: [hearing the door open] I'm really not in the mood for a lecture. I'll apologize to Effie later.

[She turns and sees it's Peeta who's entered the room]

Katniss Everdeen: I thought you were Haymitch.

Peeta Mellark: You don't have to apologize to anybody, including me. I know it's not fair of me to hold you to things that you said in the games - you saved us, I know that - but I can't go on acting for the cameras and then just ignoring each other in real life; so, if you can stop looking at me like I'm wounded, then I can quit acting like it, and then MAYBE we have a shot at being friends.

Katniss Everdeen: I've never been very good at friends.

Peeta Mellark: For starters, it does help when you know the person. I hardly know anything about you except that you're stubborn and good with a bow.

Katniss Everdeen: That about sums me up.

Peeta Mellark: No, there's more than that. You just don't want to tell me.

Peeta Mellark: [Eulogy for the fallen tributes of District 11] Though they fought and lived with honor and dignity until the end, both Thresh and Rue were so young. But our lives aren't just measured in years. They're measured in the lives of people we touch around us. For myself, for Katniss, we know that without Rue, and without Thresh, we wouldn't be standing here today.

[the morning of the games]

Katniss Everdeen: I don't want to be with anyone else in there. Just you.

Peeta Mellark: If that's what you want.

Peeta Mellark: [after almost dying from walking into a force field disguised as a jungle] Be careful, it's a force field up there.

Katniss Everdeen: You know and I know there's only one person walking out of here, and it's gonna be one of us.

Peeta Mellark: The Careers are still out there. If we stick with these guys till midnight and... and if we hear a cannon, we go.

[from trailer]

Peeta Mellark: I want everyone who is watching, to lay down their weapons now.

Peeta Mellark: They're coming, Katniss. They're gonna kill eveyone. And, in District 13, you'll be dead by morning!

Caesar Flickerman: So, Peeta, tell me, is there a special girl back home?

Peeta Mellark: No. No, not really.

Caesar Flickerman: No? I don't believe it for a second. Look at that face. Handsome man like you. Peeta... tell me.

Peeta Mellark: Well, there, uh... there is this one girl that I've had a crush on forever.

Caesar Flickerman: Ah.

Peeta Mellark: But I don't think she actually recognized me until the Reaping.

Caesar Flickerman: Well, I'll tell you what, Peeta. You go out there, and you win this thing, and when you get home, she'll have to go out with you. Right, folks?

Peeta Mellark: Thanks, but I, uh, I don't think winning's gonna help me at all.

Peeta Mellark: So what happens when we get back?

Katniss Everdeen: I don't know. I guess we try to forget.

Peeta Mellark: I don't wanna forget.

Peeta Mellark: Yeah. I just don't want them to change me.

Katniss Everdeen: How will they change you?

Peeta Mellark: I don't know. Turn me into something I'm not. I-I-I just don't want to be another piece in their game, you know?

[looks at each other]

Katniss Everdeen: He can throw a hundred pound sack of flour right over his head. I've seen it.

Peeta Mellark: Okay, well, I'm not gonna kill anybody with a sack of flour.

Katniss Everdeen: Together.

Katniss Everdeen: Two.

Peeta Mellark: You definitely smell better than I do.

Caesar Flickerman: Well, I've lived here longer.

Peeta Mellark: That makes sense.

Katniss Everdeen: [discovers Peeta painting his arm] Hi.

Peeta Mellark: I, ah... I used to decorate the cakes down at the bakery.

[He holds his painted arm against the bark of a tree; the match is perfect]

Peeta Mellark: Yeah.

Peeta Mellark: What was that?

Katniss Everdeen: It's the finale.

Cato: [holding Peeta in a rear-arm choke] Go on! Shoot, then we both go down and you win. Go on. I'm dead anyway. I always was, right? I didn't know that till now. How's that? Is that what they want? Huh?

Peeta Mellark: No...

Cato: I can still do this. I can still do this. One more kill. It's the only thing I know how to do - bring pride to my district. Not that it matters.

Katniss Everdeen: We'll just get you some medicine.

Peeta Mellark: Katniss, I don't get many parachutes.

Katniss Everdeen: We'll figure something out.

Peeta Mellark: Like what?

Katniss Everdeen: Something.

Katniss Everdeen: What was it?

Peeta Mellark: A sword. It's bad, huh?

Katniss Everdeen: It's gonna be fine.

[Katniss tries to tend to his wound]

Peeta Mellark: Katniss.

[Katniss doesn't reply and just tends to his wound]

Peeta Mellark: Katniss...

Katniss Everdeen: No! I'm not gonna leave you. I'm not gonna do that.

Peeta Mellark: Why not?

Peeta Mellark: [to Katniss] You know what my mother said? She said "District 12 might finally have a winner," but she wasn't talking about me. She was talking about you.

Katniss Everdeen: Peeta, I got it! I got the medicine!

Peeta Mellark: What happened to you?

Katniss Everdeen: I'm fine.

Peeta Mellark: No, you're not. What happened?

Katniss Everdeen: The girl from 2, she threw a knife. I'm okay.

Peeta Mellark: You shouldn't have gone! You said you weren't gonna go!

Katniss Everdeen: You got worse.

Peeta Mellark: I think about that all the time. How I tossed you that bread.

Haymitch Abernathy: Where's the ice?

Peeta Mellark: I don't... I don't know.

Peeta Mellark: Have you ever met him? Haymitch? You know, Katniss, he is our mentor. He did win this thing once.

[Katniss ignores him]

Peeta Mellark: Look, if you don't want to talk, I understand, but I just don't think there's anything wrong with getting a little bit of help.

[the Careers observe Peeta falling off a climbing net during group training]

Katniss Everdeen: Throw that metal thing over there.

Peeta Mellark: What? No. Haymitch said we're not supposed to show our skills...

Katniss Everdeen: I don't care what Haymitch said. Those guys are looking at you like you're a meal. Throw it.

Katniss Everdeen: Oh my god! Peeta! Peeta!

Peeta Mellark: Hi.

Katniss Everdeen: Hey.

Peeta Mellark: They have to have their victor.

Katniss Everdeen: No. They don't. Why should they?

Peeta Mellark: Katniss. Shoot straight.

Peeta Mellark: Now there's no way I'm letting you go.

Katniss Everdeen: So, why are you here, then?

Haymitch Abernathy: Oh. The refreshments.

[tries to grab the drink and gets pushed down]

Haymitch Abernathy: You made me spill my drink on brand-new pants!

Katniss Everdeen: We could go home. We could. We're the only team left.

Peeta Mellark: We could go home.
