Odin Quotes:

  • Loki: The Casket wasn't the only thing you took from Jotunheim that day, was it?

Odin: No. In the aftermath of the battle I went into the temple and I found a baby. Small for a Giant's offspring, abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufey's son.

    Loki: Laufey's son?

    Odin: Yes.

Loki: Why? You were knee-deep in Jotun blood. Why would you take me?

Odin: You were an innocent child.

Loki: No. You took me for a purpose. What was it?... TELL ME!

Odin: I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day. Bring about an alliance, bring about permanent peace... through you.

    Loki: What?

Odin: But those plans no longer matter.

Loki: So I am no more than another stolen relic, locked up here until you might have use of me?

Odin: Why do you twist my words?

Loki: You could have told me what I was from the beginning! Why didn't you?

Odin: You're my son... I wanted only to protect you from the truth...

Loki: What, because I... I... I am the monster parents tell their children about at night?

    Odin: [unwell] No! No!

Loki: You know, it all makes sense now, why you favored Thor all these years, because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on the throne of Asgard!

    [an overcome Odin collapses]

    Loki: Guards! Guards, please help!

  • Odin: You are a vain, greedy, cruel boy!

Thor: And you are an old man and a fool!

Odin: Yes... I was a fool, to think you were ready.

    Loki: Father...

    Odin: [to Loki] FIE!

Odin: Thor Odinson... you have betrayed the express command of your king. Through your arrogance and stupidity, you've opened these peaceful realms and innocent lives to the horror and desolation of war! You are unworthy of these realms, you're unworthy of your title, you're unworthy... of the loved ones you have betrayed! I now take from you your power! In the name of my father and his father before, I, Odin Allfather, cast you out!

  • Loki: [hanging from the edge of the Bifrost] I could have done it, Father! I could have done it! For you! For all of us!

    Odin: No, Loki.

[Loki stares for a moment, then loosens his grip]

    Thor: Loki, no... NO!

    [Loki falls into a wormhole]

  • Odin: You'll be a wise king.

Thor: There will never be a wiser king than you. Or a better father. I have much to learn. I know that now. One day, perhaps, I will make you proud.

Odin: You've already made me proud.

  • Odin: [enchants Mjolnir] Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of THOR!

    [hurls Mjolnir after Thor]

  • Odin: Once, mankind accepted a simple truth: that they were not alone in this universe. Some worlds man believed home to their Gods. Others they knew to fear. From around the cold and darkness came the Frost Giants, threatening to plunge the mortal world into a new ice age. But humanity would not face this threat alone. Our armies drove the Frost Giants back into the heart of their own world. The cost was great. In the end, their king fell, and the source of their power was taken from them. With the last great war ended, we withdrew from the other worlds and returned home at the Realm Eternal, Asgard. And here we remain as the beacon of hope, shining out across the stars. And though we have fallen into man's myths and legends, it was Asgard and its warriors that brought peace to the universe.

    [looks at his children]

Odin: But the day will come, when one of you will have to defend that peace...

  • Young Loki: Do the Frost Giants still live?

Young Thor: When I am king, I'll hunt the monsters down and slay them all! Just as you did, Father!

Odin: A wise king never seeks out war. But he must always be ready for it.

[walks off, his sons run after him]

Young Thor: I'm with you, Father!

    Young Loki: So am I!

Odin: Only one of you can ascend to the throne. But BOTH of you were born to be kings!

  • [about the burglary]

Thor: The Jotuns must pay for what they have done!

Odin: They have paid, with their lives. The Destroyer did its work, the Casket is safe, and all is well.

Thor: All is well? They broke into the weapons vault! If the Frost Giants have stolen even one of these relics...

    Odin: They didn't.

Thor: Well I want to know why!

Odin: I have a truce with Laufey, king of the Jotuns.

Thor: He just broke your truce! They know you are vulnerable!

Odin: What action would you take?

Thor: March into Jotunheim as you once did! Teach them a lesson! Break their spirits, so they would never dare try to cross our borders again!

Odin: You're thinking only as a warrior.

Thor: This was an act of war!

Odin: It was the act of but a few, doomed to fail.

Thor: Look how far they got!

Odin: We will find the breach in our defenses and it will be sealed.

    Thor: As king of Asgard...!

Odin: BUT YOU'RE NOT KING! Not yet.

  • Thor: Why did you bring us back?

Odin: Do you realize what you've done, what you've started?

Thor: I was protecting my throne!

Odin: You cannot even defend your friends! How can you hope to protect the kingdom?

  • [Odin discovers Loki holding the Casket of Ancient Winters]

    Odin: STOP!

    Loki: Am I cursed?

    Odin: No.

    Loki: What am I?

    Odin: You are my son.

[Loki turns and looks at Odin]

Loki: [features briefly blue and chill] What more than that?

  • Thor: There won't be a kingdom to protect if you're afraid to act! The Jotuns must fear me, just as they once feared you!

Odin: Have you forgotten everything I taught you? A warrior's patient!

Thor: While you wait and be patient, the Nine Worlds laugh at us! The old ways are done, yet you stand and give speeches while Asgard falls!

  • King Laufey: Allfather. You look weary.

    Odin: Laufey. End this now!

King Laufey: Your boy sought this out.

Odin: You're right. But these were the actions of a boy, treat them as such. We can end this together, here, now, without any more blood shed.

King Laufey: We are beyond diplomacy now, Allfather. You'll get what he came for: war, and death.

    Odin: So be it!

  • [Odin appears in Jotunheim]

Thor: Father, we'll finish them together!

    Odin: SILENCE!

  • [from trailer]

Odin: I have sacrificed much to achieve peace. So too must a new generation sacrifice to maintain that peace. Responsibility! Duty! Honour! These are not mere virtues to which we must aspire! They are essential to every soldier, to every king!

  • [from trailer]

Odin: He has disobeyed his king... his fate is in his own hands now.

  • [last lines]

Odin: One son who wanted the throne too much, and other who will not take it. Is this my legacy?

Thor: Loki died with honour. I shall try to live the same. Is that not legacy enough?

    [offers the hammer]

Odin: It belongs to you, if you are worthy of it.

Thor: I shall try to be.

Odin: I can not give you my blessing, nor can I wish you good fortune.

    Thor: I know.

    [turns to leave]

Odin: If I were proud of the man my son has become, even that I could not say, it would speak only from my heart. Go, my son.

    Thor: Thank you, Father.

    [leaves]

Loki: [appears from Odin's guise] No... thank you.

  • Odin: She does not belong here in Asgard any more than a goat belongs at a banquet table!

    Jane Foster: Did he just...?

    [outraged]

Jane Foster: Who do you think you are?

Odin: I am Odin. King of Asgard. Protector of the Nine Realms.

Jane Foster: [chastened] Oh. Well I'm...

Odin: I know very well who you are, Jane Foster.

Jane Foster: [to Thor] You told your dad about me?

  • Loki: [mockingly comes to attention before Odin and laughs] I really don't see what all the fuss is about.

Odin: Do you not truly feel the gravity of your crimes? Wherever you go there is war, ruin and death!

Loki: I went down to Midgard to rule the people of Earth as a benevolent God, just like you.

Odin: We are not gods! We're born, we live, we die, just as humans do.

Loki: Give or take five thousand years.

  • Odin: Despite all I have survived, my Queen still worries over me.

Frigga: It's only because I still worry over you that you have survived,

  • Einherjar Lieutenant: [reporting to Odin] There's no sign of Thor or the Aether. However, we found a body...

[Odin turns and looks at the guard]

    Odin: Loki...

  • Loki: And what of Thor? You'll make that witless oaf king while I rot in chains?

Odin: Thor has to strive to undo the damage you have done. He will bring order to the Nine Realms and then, yes... he will be king.

  • Odin: All this because Loki desires a throne.

    Loki: It is my birthright!

Odin: Your birthright was to die as a child! Cast out on a frozen rock. If I had not taken you in, you would not be here now to hate me.

Loki: If I am for the axe, then, for mercy's sake, just... swing it!

  • [first lines]

Odin: [narrating] Long before the birth of light, there was darkness... and from that darkness came the Dark Elves. Millennia ago, the most ruthless of their kind, Malekith, sought to transform our universe back into one of eternal night. Such evil was possible through the power of the Aether, an ancient force of infinite destruction. The noble armies of Asgard, led by my father King Bor, waged a mighty war against these creatures. As the Nine Worlds converged above him, Malekith could at last unleash the Aether... but Asgard ripped the weapon from his grasp; without it, the Dark Elves fell. With the battle all but lost, Malekith sacrificed his own people in a desperate attempt to lay waste to Asgard's army. Malekith was vanquished and the Aether was no more. Or so we were led to believe.

  • Thor: Let me take Jane away from here. Malekith is sure to follow, capture her and draw out the Aether from her. But in doing so, he will be vulnerable, and then I can defeat him!

Odin: Malekith is sure to return, we have what we wants. And when he does, we will defeat him.

Thor: We can not fight an enemy we can not locate! Malekith could be right over us now, and we'd never know! How many Asgardian lives must we sacrifice?

Odin: AS MANY AS IS NEEDED! Till the last Asgardian falls, till the last drop of blood is shed!

Thor: What makes you so different from Malekith, then?

Odin: [mirthless laugh] The difference, my son, is that I will WIN.

  • Odin: Her world has its healers. They are called doctors, let them deal with it!

  • [Julie, Odin, and Zeek need to cross the lava river]

Chartog: [to Julie] I am Chartog, guardian of the river. I know the way across, and I will tell you. You just have to...

    [Chuckles pervertedly]

    Chartog: ... kiss me.

    Julie: Ugh... No way!

Chartog: [chuckles] What's the matter, my precious? Don't you find me... attractive?

    [chuckles pervertedly]

Julie: [hesitantly] Ugh... if this is what it takes to kill Tyler...

Chartog: [chuckles] That's a good girl. Help your friends... it will be over soon...

Julie: [leans in, groans] Who will I have to kiss to get back?

[Kisses Chartog, his slimey tongue darting into her mouth]

Zeek: [sees what's going on] Hey, what are you doing?

[Julie sees him and Odin on the boat, which is floating in the lava river, making her time with Chartog a complete waste]

    Zeek: We're waiting for you.

Julie: [furiously] Son of a bitch!

    [draws a fist back]

    Julie: KISS *THIS!*

[slugs Chartog and knocks him into the lava river]

Odin: [disturbed] Your people have strange customs.

    [Julie steps onto the boat]

Julie: [huffs] Tell me about it.

  • Julie: [after killing Tyler] Now we must destroy the key.

    Odin: Perhaps, perhaps not!

    [strikes Julie with a whip]

    Julie: [stunned] O-Odin, why?

    Odin: Because...

[rips open his robe and reveals himself to be a n Arakacian]

Odin: I am Arakacian! My charade fooled the insufferable Holy Landers and even that little stone idiot! What makes you think a pathetic mortal can stop me?

  • Odin: Behold the Ragnarockers.

Lt. Jake Cornel: I'm sure they'll be a force to be reckoned with... when they hit puberty.

  • Odin: I want you to bring me back his ring finger, please.

  • Odin: There was a baby, born of The Mask!

  • [repeated line]

    Odin: Looookkiiiiiiii!

  • Odin: Now, find that mask, before I open up a can of lightning on you!

  • Odin: [in the body of a shopkeeper] You know, Thor never gave me this kind of trouble.

Loki: Oh, here we go again with the Thor crap. Thor, Thor, Thor! You know, father, I'm not like Thor. I'm never gonna be like Thor. I just wish that - can't you just love me for who I am and not for who I'm not?

Odin: No! I want you to be more like Thor!

  • Odin: [surprised] You did the conjuring ceremony, by yourself?

Loki: Hey, I pay attention... sometimes.

  • Odin: You've brought me much grief, Loki

    [pause]

Loki: [angrily] Right back at ya... DAD!

  • Odin: [possessing the shopkeeper] Fool! What in Helveti were you about to do to this shopkeep?

    Loki: Nothing, I...

Odin: Fool! Don't lie to me! You know Thor never gave me this kind of trouble.

Loki: Here we go again with the Thor crap.

  • Odin: As expected, you've failed at your promise. You've failed at your quest. You are, in ever sense of the word, a failure.

Tim Avery: [to Tanya] Wow, and I thought your dad was mean.

Loki: Hey, we both knew it was gonna end this way, right? You practically set me up for failure, so at least I'm living up to your expectation in that regard.

    Odin: Silence!

  • Odin: My life is over, that's it. But while all ya'll are out here livin' yours, sitting around talking about the nigger who lost it back in high school, you make sure you tell them the truth. You tell them I loved that girl! I did! But I got played!

    [Points to Hugo]

Odin: He twisted my head up. He fucked it up. I ain't no different than none of ya'll. My mom's ain't no crack head. I wasn't no gang banger. It wasn't some hood rat drug dealer that tripped me up. It was this white, prep school motherfucker standing right there! You tell them where I'm from... didn't make me do this.

[Shoots himself in the chest, collapses]

  • Odin: Where is my scarf?

    Desi: I don't know.

    Odin: You lost it?

Desi: No, I just misplaced it!

Odin: Does Michael know where my scarf is?

Desi: What? If you're asking me if I'm cheating on you, get some balls and ask! Michael? You're the only person I've ever been with and you're the only person I want to be with! And if you want to be with me you never talk to me like that again, ever!

  • Odin: Jason, ask him why he did it. Ask him!

Hugo: You won't ask me nothing. I did what I did, and that's all you need to know. From here on out, I say nothing.
