Mace Windu Quotes:

  • Yoda: How feel you?

    Anakin: Cold, sir.

    Yoda: Afraid are you?

    Anakin: No, sir.

Yoda: See through you we can.

Mace Windu: Be mindful of your feelings.

Ki-Adi-Mundi: Your thoughts dwell on your mother.

    Anakin: I miss her.

Yoda: Afraid to lose her I think, hmm?

Anakin: What has that got to do with anything?

Yoda: Everything! Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.

  • Yoda: Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice.

Mace Windu: But which was destroyed, the master or the apprentice?

  • Yoda: Master Qui-Gon. More to say have you?

Qui-Gon Jinn: With your permission, my master, I have encountered a vergence in the Force.

    Yoda: A vergence, you say?

Mace Windu: Located around a person?

Qui-Gon Jinn: A boy. His cells have the highest concentration of midi-chlorians I have seen in a life-form. It was possible he was concieved by the midi-chlorians.

Mace Windu: You refer to the prophecy of The One who will bring balance to the Force. You believe it's this boy?

  • Qui-Gon Jinn: [describing his encounter with Darth Maul] He had all the lightsaber fighting capabilities and the moves of the Jedi, only faster and more agressive. My only conclusion... is that it was a Sith lord.

Ki-Adi-Mundi: Impossible! The Sith are extinct! They have been for nearly a millenium.

Mace Windu: I agree. The Sith would not have returned without us sensing it.

Yoda: Hard to see, the dark side is. We must investigate further before drawing a conclusion to the idenity of your adversary.

  • Mace Windu: May the force be with you.

  • Mace Windu: In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic, you're under arrest, Chancellor.

Supreme Chancellor: Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?

Mace Windu: The senate will decide your fate.

Supreme Chancellor: [now speaking as Darth Sidious] I AM the senate!

    Mace Windu: Not yet.

[the Chancellor/Darth Sidious rises slowly, and his lightsaber snaps to his hand from his sleeve]

    Supreme Chancellor: It's treason, then...

[ignites his lightsaber and leaps over his desk to attack]

  • Anakin Skywalker: Master Windu, I must speak with you.

Mace Windu: Not now, Skywalker. We have just received word that Obi-Wan has destroyed General Grievous. We're on our way to make sure the Chancellor returns emergency powers back to the Senate.

Anakin Skywalker: He won't give up his power. I just learned the terrible truth. I think Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith Lord.

Mace Windu: [suprised] A Sith Lord?

Anakin Skywalker: Yes, the one we've been looking for.

Mace Windu: How do you know this?

Anakin Skywalker: He knows the ways of the Force. He's been trained to use the Dark Side.

    Mace Windu: Are you sure?

    Anakin Skywalker: Absolutely.

Mace Windu: Then our worst fears have been realized. We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive.

  • Mace Windu: [has Palpatine subdued] I'm going to put an end to this, once and for all!

Anakin Skywalker: You can't. He must stand trial.

Mace Windu: He has control of the senate and all the courts. He is too dangerous to be left alive!

Supreme Chancellor: [exhausted and disfigured] But, I'm too weak. Don't kill me.

Anakin Skywalker: That's not the Jedi way. He must live.

[Windu ignores Anakin, still intending to kill Palpatine]

    Anakin Skywalker: I need him!

    [Windu raises his lightsaber]

    Anakin Skywalker: NO!

Supreme Chancellor: [Anakin draws his own lightsaber, cutting off Windu's arm, then Palpatine electricutes Windu] Power, unlimited power!

  • Mace Windu: The oppression of the Sith will never return! You, my lord, have lost!

Supreme Chancellor: [speaking as Darth Sidious] No... no... no! YOU WILL DIE!

  • [after Anakin is assigned by the Jedi to spy on Chancellor Palpatine]

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Anakin did not take to his new assignment with much enthusiasm.

Mace Windu: It's very dangerous, putting them together. I don't think the boy can handle it. I don't trust him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: With all due respect, Master, is he not the Chosen One? Is he not to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force?

Mace Windu: So the prophecy says.

Yoda: A prophecy that misread could have been.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: He will not let me down. He never has.

Yoda: I hope right you are.

  • Yoda: Allow this appointment lightly, the council does not. Disturbing is this move by Chancellor Palpatine.

    Anakin Skywalker: I understand.

Mace Windu: You are on the council, but we do not grant you the rank of master.

Anakin Skywalker: What? How can you do this? This is outrageous, it's unfair.

Mace Windu: Take a seat, young Skywalker.

    Anakin Skywalker: Forgive me master.

  • Mace Windu: May the force be with us all.

  • Mace Windu: I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi. The Dark Side of the Force surrounds the Chancellor.

Ki-Adi-Mundi: If he does not give up his emergency powers after the destruction of Grievous, then he must be forcibly removed from office.

Mace Windu: It will be tricky. The Jedi Council will have to take control of the Senate to ensure a peaceful transition to a new goverment and a new leadership for the Republic.

Yoda: Hmm. To a dark place this line of thought will carry us. Great care we must take.

  • Mace Windu: What is it?

Yoda: Pain, suffering, death I feel. Something terrible has happened. Young Skywalker is in pain. Terrible pain.

  • Yoda: The council is confident in its decision, Obi-Wan.

Mace Windu: The boy has exceptional skills.

Obi-Wan: But he still has much to learn, Master. His abilities have made him... well arrogant.

Yoda: Yes. Yes. A flaw more and more common among Jedi. Too sure of themselves they are. Even the older, more experienced ones.

  • Mace Windu: This party's over.

  • Palpatine: I will not let this Republic, which has stood for a thousand years, be split in two. My negotiations will not fail.

Mace Windu: If they do, you must realize there aren't enough Jedi to protect the Republic. We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers.

  • Count Dooku: Brave, but, foolish, my old Jedi friend. You are impossibly outnumbered.

Mace Windu: I don't think so.

    Count Dooku: We'll see.

  • Yoda: Blind we are, of creation of this clone army we could not see.

Mace Windu: I think it is time we inform the senate that our ability to use the force has diminished.

Yoda: Only a Dark Lord of the Sith knows of our weakness. If informed the senate is, multiply our adversaries will.

  • Mace Windu: Anakin, escort the Senator back to her planet of Naboo. She'll be safter there. And don't use registered transport. Travel as refugees.

  • Mace Windu: Protect the senator at all costs.

  • [Padme says that she believes Count Dooku is behind the attacks on her life]

Ki-Adi-Mundi: He is a political idealist, not a murderer.

Mace Windu: You know, m'lady, that Count Dooku was once a Jedi. He couldn't assassinate anyone. It's not in his character.

  • Mace Windu: We will not be hostages to be bartered, Dooku.

  • Count Dooku: Master Windu, how pleasant of you to join us. You're just in time for the moment of truth. I would think these two new boys of yours could use a little more training.

Mace Windu: Sorry to disappoint you, Dooku. This party's over.

Count Dooku: Brave, but foolish, my old Jedi friend. You're impossibly outnumbered.

Mace Windu: I don't think so. The Geonosians aren't warriors. One Jedi has to be worth a hundred Geonosians.

Count Dooku: It wasn't the Geonosians I was thinking about. How well do you think one Jedi will hold up against a thousand battle droids?

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi: [deleted scene; Obi-Wan and Mace are walking along the Jedi Landing Platform] It appears someone doesn't want us to know about this Kamino System.

Mace Windu: Which means there's something happening in their System we should know about.

    [pause]

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Master, do you think a Jedi could have erased those files?

    Mace Windu: I hope not.

[they walk over to Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter]

Mace Windu: This disturbance in the Force is making it hard to get a sense of things.

[the small platform they are on with Obi-Wan's Starfighter moves outside]

    Mace Windu: [pause]

Obi-Wan Kenobi: I'm concerned with my Padawan. He is not ready to be on his own.

Mace Windu: If the prophesy is true, he is the one who will bring balance to the Force.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: But he still has much to learn. His skills have made him, well, arrogant. I realize now what you and Master Yoda said from the beginning, the boy was too old to start his training. Master we should not be given this assignment. I fear Anakin will not be able to protect the Senator.

    Mace Windu: Why?

Obi-Wan Kenobi: He has an emotional collection with her. It's been there since he was a boy. Now he's confused. Distracted.

Mace Windu: Obi-Wan, you must have faith that he will choose the right path.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: [bows his head] Yes, Master.

[gets into his Starfighter and takes off]
