[Luke fires, the torpedoes dive down the exhaust port; the Millenium Falcon leads the remaining rebel ships away as the Death Star explodes]

[Attack warning alarms are sounding throughout the Death Star and stormtroopers, officers & technicians are running to their posts. An Imperial officer is trying to find Darth Vader & eventually finds him calmly walking down a hall towards the hangar bay]

Imperial Officer: We count 30 Rebel ships, Lord Vader, but they're so small they're avoiding our turbo lasers!

Darth Vader: We'll have to destroy them ship to ship. Get the crews to their fighters.

[the officer turns to carry out the order while Vader continues towards the hangar bay]

[Vader has reached the hangar bay where his personal Tie Advanced x1 is housed, as alarms continue to wail. He meets 2 Imperial pilots heading for the same hangar & addresses them]

Darth Vader: Several fighters have broken off from the main group. Come with me!

[the pilots follow Vader to the hangar]

Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi: [as Obi-Wan finds him and ignites lightsaber] I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner, but now I am the master.

[fights Vader]

Darth Vader: You should not have come back.

Luke: [Obi-Wan spots him and allows himself to be killed] NO!

[stormtroopers shoot at him]

Darth Vader: Luke... help me take this mask off.

Luke: But you'll die.

Darth Vader: Nothing... can stop that now. Just for once... let me... look on you with my *own* eyes.

[Luke takes off Darth Vader's mask one piece at a time. Underneath, Luke sees the face of a pale, scarred, bald-headed, old man - his father, Anakin. Anakin sadly looks at Luke but then gives a tired smile]

Anakin: Now... go, my son. Leave me.

Luke: No. You're coming with me. I'll not leave you here, I've got to save you.

Anakin: You already... have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister... you were right.

[Anakin smiles and his eyes begin to droop slumps down in death while giving one last dying breath]

Luke: Father... I won't leave you.

Luke: Your thoughts betray you, Father. I feel the good in you, the conflict.

Darth Vader: There is no conflict.

Luke: You couldn't bring yourself to kill me before and I don't believe you'll destroy me now.

Darth Vader: You underestimate the power of the Dark Side. If you will not fight, then you will meet your destiny.

[igniting Luke's saber]

[Aboard the Death Star, The Emperor's shuttle is greeted by hundreds of Imperial troops and officers. As the last of six red-robed Royal Guards exit the shuttle, both Darth Vader and Moff Jerjerrod kneel in reverence at the foot of the boarding ramp as the Emperor himself emerges]

The Emperor: Rise, my friend.

Darth Vader: The Death Star will be completed on schedule.

The Emperor: You've done well, Lord Vader. And now I sense you wish to continue your search for young Skywalker.

Darth Vader: Yes, my Master.

The Emperor: Patience, my friend. In time, he will seek *you* out, and when he does, you must bring him before me. He has grown strong. Only together can we turn him to the Dark Side of the Force.

Darth Vader: As you wish.

The Emperor: Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

[from the Blu-ray version, as Vader watches Luke being destroyed by the Emperor's Force lightning]

Darth Vader: No.

[Vader turns to the Emperor]

Darth Vader: NOOOOOOOOOO!

[Vader lifts the Emperor over his head, leading the Emperor to scream in shock as his force lightning shoots upward onto Vader, who throws the screaming Emperor into the abyss of the throne room and the Emperor hits the core of the shaft, causing an explosion, then Luke pulls his weakened father to safety]

[Vader brings Luke before the Emperor and hands him Luke's weapon]

Darth Vader: His light saber.

The Emperor: [to Luke] Ah, yes. A Jedi's weapon, much like your father's. By now you must know that your father can never be turned from the Dark Side. So will it be with you.

Darth Vader: He will come to me?

The Emperor: I have foreseen it. His compassion for you will be his undoing. He will come to you and then you will bring him before me.

Darth Vader: As you wish.

Admiral Piett: Shall I hold them?

Darth Vader: No. Leave them to me. I will deal with them myself.

Darth Vader: What is thy bidding, my master?

The Emperor: Send the fleet to the far side of Endor. There it will stay until called for.

Darth Vader: What of the reports of the rebel fleet massing near Sullust?

The Emperor: It is of no concern. Soon the Rebellion will be crushed and young Skywalker will be one of us. Your work here is finished, my friend. Go out to the command ship and await my orders.

Darth Vader: Yes, my master.

Darth Vader: [deleted scene; Darth Vader and Moff Jerjerrod talk] Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them.

[cut to Tatooine, where Luke constructs his new lightsaber and tests it out. R2-D2 beeps something as C-3PO talks to himself]

C-3PO: What a forsaken place this is! Why couldn't that bounty hunter have taken Captain Solo to a more... pleasant environment?

[R2-D2 comes out of the small cave and beeps something]

C-3PO: We're leaving? But, what about Master Luke?

[R2 beeps again]

C-3PO: I thought he was going to rescue Captain Solo?

[R2 beeps and starts rolling away]

C-3PO: You mean, we're going to that horrible fortress alone?

[follows after R2, who beeps again]

C-3PO: We're doomed.

[cut to another scene where R2 and 3PO are making their way toward Jabba's Palace]

C-3PO: [R2 beeps a question] Of course I'm frightened, and you should be, too. Lando Calrissian and poor Chewbacca never return from this awful place.

[R2 beeps]

C-3PO: Don't be so sure. If I told you half the things I've heard about this Jabba the Hutt, you'd probably short-circuit.

[R2 sounds scared]

Darth Sidious: [Vader's new mechanical body arises from the steam] Lord Vader... can you hear me?

Darth Vader: Yes, Master.

Darth Vader: [Vader looks at Sidious] Where is Padme? Is she safe? Is she all right?

Darth Sidious: It seems in your anger, you killed her.

Darth Vader: I...? I couldn't have! She was alive... I felt it!

[Vader growls, and his Dark Side strength crushes everything around him in the room. He frees himself from the metal stretcher, and steps off. Palpatine has a smirk on his face]

Darth Vader: Nooooooooooooooooooo!

[after choking Captain Needa to death]

Darth Vader: Apology accepted, Captain Needa.

Darth Vader: [kneeling before Emperor Palpatine's hologram] What is thy bidding, my master?

Emperor Palpatine: There is a great disturbance in the Force.

Darth Vader: I have felt it.

Emperor Palpatine: We have a new enemy. The young Rebel who destroyed the Death Star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker.

Darth Vader: How is that possible?

Emperor Palpatine: Search your feelings, Lord Vader. You will know it to be true. He could destroy us.

Darth Vader: He's just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

Emperor Palpatine: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

Darth Vader: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

Emperor Palpatine: [intrigued] Yes... He would be a great asset. Can it be done?

Darth Vader: He will join us or die, master.

Darth Vader: Calrissian. Take the princess and the Wookie to my ship.

Lando: You said they'd be left at the city under my supervision!

Darth Vader: Luke, you can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny. Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son.

Darth Vader: [having cornered Luke during their lightsaber battle] You are beaten. It is useless to resist. Don't let yourself be destroyed as Obi-Wan did.

C-3PO: Oh. They've encased him in Carbonite. He should be quite well protected. If he survived the freezing process, that is.

Darth Vader: Well, Calrissian, did he survive?

Lando: Yes, he's alive, and in perfect hibernation.

Darth Vader: He's all yours, bounty hunter. Reset the chamber for Skywalker.

Darth Vader: Yes, Admiral?

Admiral Piett: Our ships have sighted the Millennium Falcon, Lord. But it has entered an asteroid field and we can not risk...

Darth Vader: [interrupting] Asteroids do not concern me, Admiral! I want that ship, not excuses!

Darth Vader: The force is with you, young Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet.

[Darth Vader has just learned of Admiral Ozzel's big blunder, and activates a viewscreen]

Admiral Ozzel: [appearing onscreen with Captain Piett] Lord Vader, the fleet has moved out of lightspeed and we're preparing to...

[Ozzel stops, and suddenly begins to choke, clutching at his throat]

Darth Vader: You have failed me for the last time, Admiral! Captain Piett?

Captain Piett: Yes, my lord?

Darth Vader: Make ready to land our troops beyond their energy field, and deploy the fleet, so that nothing gets off the system.

[beside Piett, Admiral Ozzel utters one last strangled gasp, and falls over dead]

Darth Vader: You are in command now... Admiral Piett!

Admiral Piett: Thank you, Lord Vader.

Darth Vader: We would be honored if you would join us.

Lando: [talks to Darth Vader about trapping Luke Skywalker] Lord Vader, we only use this facility for carbon freezing. You put him in there, it might kill him!

Darth Vader: I do not want the Emperor's prize damaged. We will test it... on Captain Solo.

Darth Vader: You have learned much, young one.

Luke: You'll find I'm full of surprises.

Darth Vader: All too easy.

Admiral Piett: Lord Vader, our ships have completed their scan of the area and found nothing. If the Millennium Falcon went into light-speed, it'll be on the other side of the galaxy by now.

Darth Vader: Alert all commands. Calculate every possible destination along their last known trajectory.

Admiral Piett: Yes, my Lord. We'll find them.

General Veers: My Lord, the fleet has moved out of lightspeed. Com Scan has detected an energy field protecting an area of the sixth planet of the Hoth System. The field is strong enough to deflect any bombardment.

Darth Vader: [getting angry] The Rebels are alerted to our presence. Admiral Ozzel came out of lightspeed too close to the system.

General Veers: He... he felt surprise was wiser...

Darth Vader: He is as clumsy as he is stupid! General... prepare your troops for a surface attack.

General Veers: Yes, my Lord.

Darth Vader: Your destiny lies with me Skywalker. Obi-Wan knew this to be true.
