Charles Xavier Quotes:

  • Charles Xavier: This is what life looks like: people love each other. You should take a moment...

  • Charles Xavier: Fuck off, Logan.

Logan: Oh so you remember who I am now.

Charles Xavier: I always know who you are. It's just sometimes I don't recognize you.

  • Charles Xavier: Two days on the road, only one meal, and hardly any sleep. She's 11, I'm fucking 90...

  • [last words]

Charles Xavier: Our boat... the Sunseeker.

  • Charles Xavier: This has been the most perfect sleep I've had in years... and I don't deserve it, do I?

    [cries]

  • Charles Xavier: Logan, you still have time.

  • Logan: Who is she?

Charles Xavier: She's like you... she's very much like you.

  • Donald Pierce: Charles Xavier, the world famous mutant octogenarian.

Charles Xavier: Actually, I'm a nonagenarian.

  • Charles Xavier: [sees the Munsons in trouble] They need our help.

    Logan: Someone will come along!

Charles Xavier: Someone HAS come along.

  • [from trailer]

Charles Xavier: Logan, what did you do?

Logan: The world is not the same as it was, Charles. Mutants... they're gone now.

  • Logan: Where we're going, "Eden..." It doesn't exist. The nurse got it from a comic book. You understand? It's not real.

Charles Xavier: [weakly] It is for Laura...

    [looks at Logan sternly]

Charles Xavier: It is for Laura.

  • Charles Xavier: Logan.

Logan: I don't wanna talk about it. I don't wanna hear it anymore.

    Charles Xavier: Logan.

    Logan: Just stop!

Charles Xavier: I have to pee.

  • Logan: [as a noisy self-driving truck passes him on the highway] Motherfucking auto trucks!

Charles Xavier: Language, Logan. And you're screaming at a machine.

Logan: [about Laura] Oh, what? She can gut a man with her feet, but she can't hear a few naughty words?

  • Charles Xavier: You leave me alone with that fucking albino. He doesn't listen to me... I know a damn speciation when I see one.

    Logan: What?

Charles Xavier: Speciation. New mutant. A young one. There are forces trying to kill them. They want help.

Logan: [sarcastically] Forces, forces... It's too bad you're not in that business anymore.

Charles Xavier: They don't want me, they want you.

    [Logan snorts]

Charles Xavier: Oh, yes. That's how fucking stupid they are... They're waiting for you at the Statue of Liberty.

Logan: Statue of Liberty was a long time ago, Charles. A long time. There are no new mutants, you understand? Hasn't been a new one born in 25 years. Not anywhere. I always thought we were part of God's plan. Maybe... Maybe we were God's mistake.

Charles Xavier: [sadly] What a disappointment you are... When I found you, you were pursuing a career as a cage fighter. You were an animal... But we took you in. I gave you a family.

    Logan: [somberly] They're gone now.

Charles Xavier: Logan... What did you do?

    [Logan walks away]

Charles Xavier: What did you do? Answer me! Why are we here? No one should live like this, drugged in a fucking tank!

Logan: It's for your own good.

    [exits the room]

Charles Xavier: No, no! It's not!

    [door slams]

Charles Xavier: You're waiting for me to die...

  • Logan: [shows Laura the X-Men comics he found in her backpack] You read these in your spare time?

    [to Charles]

Logan: Oh yeah, Charles, we got ourselves an X-Men fan.

    [to Laura]

Logan: You do know they're all bullshit, right? Maybe a quarter of it happened, and not like this. In the real world, people die, and no self-promoting asshole in a fucking leotard can stop this.

    Charles Xavier: Logan.

Logan: This is ice cream for bed-wetters.

    Charles Xavier: Logan.

Logan: Your nurse had been feeding you some grade-A bullshit.

Charles Xavier: I don't think Laura needs reminding of life's impermanence.

  • [Wolverine puts on a pair of spectacles to read]

Charles Xavier: I like those. They make you look younger.

  • Charles Xavier: The world's already begun rebuilding its arsenals.

Erik Lensherr: It's human nature, Charles.

Charles Xavier: I still have hope.

Erik Lensherr: [wry laugh] Oh, yes. Hope.

Charles Xavier: I was right about Raven. I was even right about you.

Erik Lensherr: What about the rest of the world? Doesn't it ever wake you up in the middle of the night? The feeling that one day they'll come for you, and your children?

    Charles Xavier: It does indeed.

Erik Lensherr: What do you do when you wake up to that?

Charles Xavier: I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul that comes to my school looking for trouble.

  • [reciting Apocalypse's message to the world]

Charles Xavier: This message is for one reason alone: to tell the strongest among you...

Apocalypse: Those with the greatest power, this earth will be yours!

Charles Xavier: Those with the greatest power... protect those without. That's my message to the world.

  • Apocalypse: It's over, Charles. You're finished. You're mine now.

Charles Xavier: You will never win.

    Apocalypse: And why is that?

Charles Xavier: Because you are alone... and I am not.

    [Jean Grey appears]

  • Charles Xavier: You sure I can't convince you to stay?

Erik Lensherr: You're psychic, Charles. You can convince me to do anything.

    Charles Xavier: Goodbye, old friend.

    Erik Lensherr: Good luck, Professor.

  • Charles Xavier: Alex, destroy Cerebro! Wreak havoc!

  • Charles Xavier: Erik, don't join them...

Erik Lensherr: Whatever you think you saw in me, I buried it with my family.

  • Charles Xavier: [senses Apocalypse with Cerebro] I've never felt power like this before...

    [his eyes go black]

  • Moira MacTaggert: [opens a CIA folder] Ever since the world found out about mutants in '73, there have been cults who see them as some kind of second coming or sign of God. I was tracking one of them. They call themselves Ashir En Sabah Nur, named after an ancient being they believe to be the world's first.

    Alex Summers: World's first what?

Moira MacTaggert: The world's first mutant.

Alex Summers: I thought mutants didn't evolve till this century.

Moira MacTaggert: That's the common theory, yes, but these guys believe that the first mutant was born tens of thousands of years ago and they believe he will rise again. They've been searching ancient sites all around the world for clues. These hieroglyphs describe the specific set of powers greater than any man can possess.

Charles Xavier: Do you think he lived in all that time?

Moira MacTaggert: Yes and no. They believe that he had the ability to transfer his consciousness from body to body and whenever he was close to death, he would just take on a new body. Some of these made with the bodies of mutants, enabling him to take their powers amassing various abilities over the years.

    Charles Xavier: An all-powerful mutant?

Moira MacTaggert: Exactly. And wherever this being was, he always had four principle followers, disciples, protectors he would imbue with powers.

Alex Summers: Like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He got that one from the Bible

Moira MacTaggert: Or the Bible got it from him? And wherever he ruled, eventually it would end in disaster, cataclysm, some kind of... apocalypse.

Charles Xavier: The end of the world...

  • Charles Xavier: Thank you for letting me in.

  • Charles Xavier: [using Cerebro] It's her.

    Hank McCoy: Who?

    Charles Xavier: Moira.

    Hank McCoy: Wha- Moira MacTaggert?

    Charles Xavier: Mhmm.

Hank McCoy: Give me the details.

Charles Xavier: Well, she looks amazing. She's barely aged a day.

  • [first lines]

Charles Xavier: Mutants: born with extraordinary abilities, and yet still, they are children stumbling in the dark, searching for guidance. A gift can often be a curse. Give someone wings, and they may fly too close to the sun. Give them the power of prophecy, and they may live in fear of the future. Give them the greatest gift of all, powers beyond imagination, and they may think they are meant to rule the world.

  • Charles Xavier: Think of your wife, think of your daughter. What would they have wanted?

Magneto: They would have wanted to live.

  • [psychic battle]

Charles Xavier: You're in my house now!

Apocalypse: [starts to grow] You'll need a bigger house.

  • Hank McCoy: You wanna go see Moira.

Charles Xavier: I wanna go check her out- check out... the situation.

    [clears throat]

  • Jean Grey: [wakes up from a nightmare] I saw the end of the world. I could feel all this death...

Charles Xavier: Jean, it was just a dream.

  • Charles Xavier: Oh God... he can control all of us!

  • Charles Xavier: Once you know the extent of your power, then you can learn to control it.

  • Alex Summers: [about Moira] So you really haven't seen her in all these years? And you never looked her up? Not even in Cerebro?

Charles Xavier: [chuckles] Alex, what do you take me for, some kind of pervert? I- Yes, I looked her up once. Twice, but not in a long time, alright?

  • Charles Xavier: It's all of us, against a god!

  • Charles Xavier: He means to destroy this world... billions of people killed.

  • Apocalypse: [crafts a helmet for Erik] A gift, to honor your past life and your future role.

Charles Xavier: And what about me? Do I have any role to play in this madness?

Apocalypse: You have the most important role of all...

[straps Charles down on a table]

Apocalypse: Despite my long life, there is one thing I can not do that you can: be everywhere... be everyone.

Charles Xavier: No... no! Get out! GET OUT!

  • [deleted scene]

Charles Xavier: [to Storm] You're not comfortable with all this, are you? You're not like them.

Ororo Munroe: Don't try to get in my head.

Charles Xavier: I don't have to read your mind to know what it is you're thinking. You're not a killer.

Ororo Munroe: You don't know me. You didn't grow up in a place where superstition and dark religion hold a lot more sway than your degrees, Professor. I barely survived my own village, my own family. They all thought I was a curse on the Earth.

Charles Xavier: Are you going to prove them right? Are you going to prove them right?

  • [last lines]

Charles Xavier: The past: a new and uncertain world. A world of endless possibilities and infinite outcomes. Countless choices define our fate: each choice, each moment, a moment in the ripple of time. Enough ripple, and you change the tide... for the future is never truly set.

  • Hank McCoy: What if, whatever we do can't be changed? What if Raven will kill Trask anyway? What if that is who she is?

Charles Xavier: Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn't mean they're lost forever.

  • Charles Xavier: I'm just not very good with violence...

[the elevator doors open and Charles sees Erik]

    Erik Lehnsherr: Charles.

[Charles punches him, knocking Erik to the ground, then winces in pain himself]

Erik Lehnsherr: Good to see you too, old friend.

  • Erik Lehnsherr: I didn't kill the President.

Charles Xavier: The bullet curved, Erik.

Erik Lehnsherr: Because I was trying to save him. They took me out before I could.

Charles Xavier: [looks at Erik] Why would you try and save him?

Erik Lehnsherr: Because he was one of us.

  • [Charles reads Logan's mind, and appears in the future]

    Professor X: Charles.

    Charles Xavier: Charles.

    [looks around]

Charles Xavier: Is this what becomes of us? Erik was right. Humanity does this to us.

Professor X: Not if we show them a better path.

    Charles Xavier: You still believe?

Professor X: Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn't mean they're lost forever. Sometimes, we all need a little help.

Charles Xavier: I'm not the man I was. I open my mind up and it almost overwhelms me.

Professor X: You're afraid. And Cerebro knows it.

Charles Xavier: All those voices... so much PAIN.

Professor X: It's not their pain you're afraid of. It's yours, Charles. And as frightening as it can be, that pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, .it will make you more powerful than you ever imagined. It's the greatest gift we have: to bear their pain without breaking. And it comes from the most human part of us: hope. Charles, we need you to hope again.

  • Charles Xavier: [walks down stairs as a beasted up Hank and Logan fight] Hank? What's going on here?

    Logan: Professor?

Charles Xavier: Please don't call me that.

Hank McCoy: Why? You know this guy?

Charles Xavier: Yeah... he looks slightly familiar. Get off the bloody chandelier, Hank!

[Hank drops down from hanging on it ]

    Logan: You can walk?

Charles Xavier: You're a perceptive one.

    Logan: I thought Erik...

Charles Xavier: Which makes it slightly that you managed to miss our sign on the way in. This is private property, my friend...

    [points at Hank]

Charles Xavier: ...I'm going to have to ask him to ask you to leave.

Logan: Well, I'm afraid I can't do that because, uh... because I was sent here for you.

Charles Xavier: Well, tell whoever it was that sent you that I'm... busy.

Logan: Well, that's gonna be a little tricky. Because the person who sent me, was you.

    Charles Xavier: What?

Logan: About fifty years from now.

Charles Xavier: About fifty years from now? Like, in the future "fifty years from now"?

    Logan: Yeah.

Charles Xavier: I sent you from the future?

    Logan: Yeah.

    Charles Xavier: Piss off.

  • Charles Xavier: [to Logan] You know, I think I do remember you now. Yeah... a tall angry fellow with contentious hair. We came to you a long time ago seeking your help. And I'm gonna say to you what you said to us then: fuck off!

  • [observing Quicksilver play against himself at table tennis]

    Hank McCoy: He is fascinating!

Charles Xavier: He's a pain in the ass.

  • [Charles reads Logan's mind]

Charles Xavier: [horrified] You poor, poor man...

    Logan: Look past me.

Charles Xavier: No... I don't want your suffering, I don't want your future!

Logan: Look past my future... Look for YOUR future... That's it...

  • Charles Xavier: When did you last see her?

Erik Lehnsherr: The day I left for Dallas.

Charles Xavier: And how was she?

    Erik Lehnsherr: Strong. Driven. Loyal.

Charles Xavier: How... how was she?

Erik Lehnsherr: She was... We were... I could see why she meant so much to you. You should be proud of her, Charles. She's out there fighting for our cause.

Charles Xavier: YOUR cause. The girl I raised, she was not capable of killing.

Erik Lehnsherr: You didn't raise her. You grew up with her. She couldn't stay a little girl forever. That's why she left.

Charles Xavier: She left because you got inside her head.

Erik Lehnsherr: That's not MY power.

  • Logan: Listen to me, you piece of shit! I watched a lot of good people die, and I came back to stop that from happening!

Charles Xavier: We all gotta die sometime.

    [walks off]

Hank McCoy: [to Logan] I told you, there's no professor here.

  • Charles Xavier: [failing to use Cerebro] You don't understand, it's not a question of being rusty! I can flip the switches, I can turn the knobs, but my power doesn't comes from here...

    [Points to his mind]

Charles Xavier: [points at his heart] It comes from here. And it's broken... I feel like one of my students, helpless... It was a mistake coming down here. It was a mistake freeing Erik. This whole thing has been one, bloody mistake! I'm sorry, Logan, but they sent back the wrong man!

    [starts to exit Cerebro]

Logan: You're right. I am... Actually, it was supposed to be you. But I was the only one who could physically make the trip. And, uh, I don't know how long I've got here... But I do know, that a long time ago - actually a long time from now - I was your most helpless student, and you unlocked my mind. YOU showed me what I was, you showed me who I could be. I don't know how to do that for you; you're right, I don't... but I know someone who might. Look into my mind.

Charles Xavier: You saw what I did to Cerebro. You don't want me inside your head.

Logan: There's no damage you can do that hasn't already been done, trust me.

  • [trying to calm a disoriented Logan]

Charles Xavier: You're on acid... somebody gave you really bad acid...

  • Charles Xavier: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! This is a code red situation! We are evacuating the entire floor, so that we - my, uh

    [looks at Logan]

Charles Xavier: ... associate and I can, uh, secure the prisoner.

Surveillance Guard #1: Who are you?

Charles Xavier: We are... special operations CBFECI... C. Look: perhaps you didn't hear me when first I spoke, but it's *imperative* that you understand we are in *complete* lock down situation. We have to get you to the third floor...

Logan: [Rolling his eyes irritatedly, he grabs a pot and swiftly knocks the guards out, leaving Charles dumbfounded; he turns to him sarcastically] Oh, I'm sorry. Were you finished?

  • Erik Lehnsherr: If you let them have me, I'm as good as dead. You know that.

    Charles Xavier: I know.

    Erik Lehnsherr: Goodbye, old friend.

    Charles Xavier: Goodbye, Erik.

    [Magneto and Mystique escape]

Hank McCoy: Are you sure you should let them go?

Charles Xavier: Yes. I have hope for them. There's going to be a time, Hank, when we're all together.

  • Charles Xavier: He's being held hundred floors under the most heavily guarded building on the planet.

Logan: Why is he in there?

Charles Xavier: Oh, he forgot to mention you?

    [laughs]

Hank McCoy: [whispers to Logan] Uh, JFK.

    Logan: [surprised] He killed...?

Charles Xavier: How else would you explain a bullet miraculously curving through the air? Erik always had his way with guns.

  • Erik Lehnsherr: How did you lose them?

Charles Xavier: The treatment for my spine affects my DNA.

Erik Lehnsherr: You sacrificed your powers so you could walk?

Charles Xavier: I sacrificed my powers so that I could sleep!... What do you know about it?

Erik Lehnsherr: I've lost my fair share.

Charles Xavier: Hah! Dry your eyes, Erik. Doesn't justify what you've done.

Erik Lehnsherr: You have no idea what I've done.

Charles Xavier: I know that you took the things that mean the most to me.

Erik Lehnsherr: Well, maybe you should have fought harder for them!

Charles Xavier: [stands up] If you want to fight, Erik, then I will give you a fight!

    Logan: Sit down!

Erik Lehnsherr: [raises his hand calmly] Let him come.

Charles Xavier: [grabs Erik] You abandoned me! You took her away, and you abandoned me!

Erik Lehnsherr: Angel. Azazel. Emma. Banshee. Mutant brothers and sisters, all dead!

[the plane's controls start to freeze up and dive]

Erik Lehnsherr: Countless others, experimented on, butchered!

    Hank McCoy: Erik!

Erik Lehnsherr: Where were you, Charles? We were supposed to protect them! Where were you when your own people needed you? Hiding! You and Hank! Pretending to be something you're not!

Hank McCoy: [at the controls] Erik!

    [the plane steadies]

Erik Lehnsherr: You abandoned us ALL!

  • [Charles appears just as Raven points a gun at Trask]

Raven: Get out of my head, Charles!

Charles Xavier: Raven, please do not make us the enemy today.

Raven: Look around you, we already are!

Charles Xavier: Not all of us, Raven. All you've done so far is save the lives of these men. You can show them a better path.

Hank McCoy: [to Xavier] Shut her down, Charles!

Charles Xavier: I've been trying to control you since the day we met, and look where that's got us... everything that happens now is in your hands. I have faith in you, Raven.

  • Charles Xavier: I'll do it, to save her. Not for your future whatever.

    Logan: Fair enough.

  • Hank McCoy: The power's back on.

[Charles has communicated with his older self]

Charles Xavier: Yes. Yes, it is.

  • Logan: Whatever happens from now, promise me one thing. Storm, Scott, Jean... you'll look out for these names and protect them.

Charles Xavier: I'll do my best, Logan.

  • Logan: We're gonna need Magneto...

Charles Xavier: That man is a monster! He is held hundred floors beneath THE most heavily guarded building in the world.

  • Charles Xavier: [to Raven/Mystique] I'm going to keep you safe. I'm going to keep you out of their hands.

[Erik uses his power to draw a gun to his hand which he aims at Raven]

    Raven: Erik?

Charles Xavier: Erik... what are you doing?

Erik Lehnsherr: Securing our future. Forgive me, Mystique. As long as you're out there, we'll never be safe.

    Hank McCoy: Erik...

Raven: Use your power, Charles. Stop him.

    Charles Xavier: I...

    Raven: He can't.

[She flees. Hank dives at Erik causing him to release the gun, but he uses his powers to pull the trigger anyway. She leaps out the window, but Erik curves the bullet's trajectory to hit her in the right calf, embedding it there]

  • [deleted scene]

Charles Xavier: [to Raven] You'd be giving Trask exactly what he wants, a reason for humanity to fear and hate us...

Raven: You think they need a reason?

    [turns blue]

Raven: Do you honestly think they'll ever be able to see me like this, and feel anything but fear? YOU can't even look at me!

  • Logan: If you had your powers you'd know I was telling the truth.

Charles Xavier: How do you know I don't have...

    [pause]

    Charles Xavier: Who are you?

    Logan: I told you.

    Charles Xavier: Are you CIA?

    Logan: No.

Charles Xavier: Have you been watching me?

Logan: I know you, Charles. We've been friends for years. I know your powers came when you were nine. I know you thought you were going crazy when it started; all the... voices in your head, and it wasn't until you were 12 that you realized the voices were in everyone else's head. Do you want me to go on?

Charles Xavier: I never told anyone that.

Logan: Not yet, no, but... you will.

Charles Xavier: All right, you've piqued my interest. What do you want?

Logan: We have to stop Raven. I need your help. We need your help.

Charles Xavier: [emotional] I think I'd like to wake up now...

    [walks away]

Hank McCoy: [to Logan] What does she have to do with this?

  • [Charles stumbles and grabs his head]

    Logan: You okay?

Charles Xavier: [points at his legs] When this goes... this comes back!

    [points at his head]

  • Charles Xavier: Hank... could you help me upstairs?

[Hank gets Charles to his wheelchair]

Hank McCoy: Are you sure about this?

    Charles Xavier: Absolutely not.

  • Logan: [sees young Xavier for the first time] You can walk?

Charles Xavier: Aren't you the clever one.

  • Charles Xavier: You must think me so foolish. We've always said they would come after us.

Erik Lehnsherr: I never imagined they'd use Raven's DNA to do it.

  • [during the credits]

[as Logan checks into an airport, he notices metallic items levitating. Suddenly, he is frozen and is confronted by Magneto]

    Logan: What do you want?

Magneto: There are dark forces, Logan. Human forces building a weapon that could bring about the end of our kind. What do I want? I want your help.

Logan: Why would I trust you?

    Magneto: You wouldn't.

[Magneto releases Logan. Logan sees that everyone around him is frozen]

Charles Xavier: [wheels up] Hello, Logan.

    Logan: How is this possible?

Charles Xavier: As I told you a long time ago, you are not the only one with gifts.

  • [first lines]

Charles Xavier: Mother. What are you... I thought you were a burglar.

Mrs. Xavier: I didn't mean to scare you, darling. I was just getting a snack. Go back to bed. What's the matter? Go on, back to bed.I, I'll make you a hot chocolate.

Charles Xavier: Who are you? And what have you done with my mother?

Charles Xavier: [telepathically in her mind] My mother has never set foot in this kitchen in her life. And she certainly never made me a hot chocolate, unless you count ordering the maid to do it.

[Mrs Xavier nervously changes into a scared blue-skinned girl]

Young Raven: You're not... scared of me?

Charles Xavier: I always knew I couldn't be the only one in the world. The only one who was different. And here you are. Charles Xavier.

    [takes her hand]

    Young Raven: [hesitant] Raven.

Charles Xavier: You're hungry and alone. Take whatever you want. We've got lots of food. You don't have to steal. In fact, you never have to steal again.
